The
Costa Brava has a lot to offer…
small traditional villages, dreamy beaches… Here just a few
tips:
First of
all a map so you get an idea where the places we describe below are
located.
Click on the map to zoom in.
Boating
Several small excursion boat tours are offered in Rosas.
One of these is Rosas-Cadaques-Cabo Creus-Rosas.
This trip takes you along the beautiful rocky coast to Cabo Creus and,
on the way back, to the small fishing village of Cadaques where it
stops for approximately 1 hour to tour the village.
Aqua-Park
The Aqua-Park is located outside Rosas. Free buses are available from
Rosas (across from the Vinolas travel agency). Tickets can be ordered
and purchased at reception.
Please see the brochure available at the hotel for more information.
The Aqua-Park is mainly aimed at youths and families with children.
Further information is available at http://www.aquabrava.com.
Montserrat
The
Montserrat monastery is located approx. 50 km west of Barcelona in a
unique mountain landscape at an altitude of 800 meters. The peculiar
rock formations are the result of erosion.
A cable railway runs from the Montserrat monastery to San Joan (almost
1000 meters). From there, one can embark on wonderful hikes through
this unique mountain landscape.
Barcelona
The capital of Catalonia (population 1.6 million) offers several
attractive destinations:
a) Sagrada Familia
This church by the well-known architect and artist Antonio Gaudi has
been under construction since 1885 and is still incomplete.
b)
Pueblo Espanol
This “Spanish Village” was constructed during the
world exposition in Barcelona (1929). A street with original structures
from each province was constructed as part of this project.
The village provides a good general overview of the architecture and
lifestyles in the various provinces. A guide who can explain the
details is well worthwhile.
c)
Montjuich
The Montjuich is one of the two mountains that border Barcelona. It is
located right next to the Mediterranean. The site of the world
exposition (1929) is now used as a leisure park. A military museum is
located on the mountaintop.
d)
The Ramblas
A visit to the Ramblas (pedestrian zone) is an essential part of a trip
to Barcelona. Here one can buy flowers, birds, chicks, newspapers, and
much more. There are also frequent shows by street performers. However,
we must warn you against pickpockets.
A bus ride along the coast:
La Bisbal offers a large selection of clay and ceramics, among other
things.
Banyolles
Banyolles hosted various competitions during the Olympic Games (marine).
Besalu

Pals
This village is worth a visit; it was rebuilt and restored as a
historic Catalan village.
